Anchorage Man Dies After Being Hit by Truck on Minnesota Drive

Carl Schmidt, 65, has died following a pedestrian accident in Anchorage. The Anchorage Police Department reported that Schmidt was struck by a Ford F-150 near the intersection of 32nd Avenue and Minnesota Drive on the evening of October 28. He sustained serious injuries and passed away at the hospital on November 7.

According to police, Schmidt was crossing Minnesota Drive at the time of the collision but was not using a marked or unmarked crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated fully with authorities. No charges have been filed as the incident is still being investigated as a fatality.

The Anchorage Police Department confirmed that procedures with Schmidt’s next of kin have been completed. Officers continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the accident to understand how it happened and ensure proper protocols are followed.

This tragic incident highlights the risks pedestrians face when crossing busy roads outside of designated crosswalks and serves as a reminder for both drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant.
