Minnesota Man, 22, Investigated for Using Fake Identity to Enroll at White Bear Lake High School

Authorities in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, are investigating a 22-year-old man accused of enrolling at White Bear Lake Area High School using a false identity and fraudulent documents. The case came to light in late September after reports emerged that an adult had been posing as a student at the school. According to officials, the discovery was made when a student recognized a mugshot from the Anoka County Jail and realized it was the same person she had seen attending classes. The student’s mother reported the matter to school authorities, prompting an internal review.

School officials later determined that the man had allegedly used fake documents to register under a different name, including a Liberian birth certificate that listed his birth year as 2007, making him appear to be a teenager. This information conflicted with his Minnesota driver’s license, which shows his actual birth year and identity. Following the discovery, local authorities launched a criminal investigation to verify the man’s true background and how he managed to enroll in the school system without detection.

A recently released search warrant reveals that investigators are now seeking copies of the fraudulent birth certificate, the man’s school enrollment records, and any other forms of student identification he may have used. The warrant indicates that the man allegedly admitted to police that he used the Liberian birth certificate to pass the school’s registration process while also possessing a legitimate Minnesota birth certificate under his real name.

Law enforcement officers believe that the forged documents were key in helping the suspect gain access to the school, allowing him to attend classes alongside teenagers for an extended period before being discovered. Authorities have not disclosed how long he was enrolled or what his intentions might have been, though the case has raised questions about school enrollment procedures and document verification systems.

Investigators have also noted that the incident may be connected to other ongoing cases beyond Ramsey County, suggesting that additional agencies are now involved in reviewing the matter. For now, the man has not been formally charged, but the case remains active as officials collect evidence and review records from both the school district and other institutions that may have interacted with the suspect.

White Bear Lake Area Schools confirmed their cooperation with law enforcement and stated that they are assisting in providing any necessary documentation for the investigation. The district also emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety of students and staff and said it is reviewing its enrollment protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The case has sparked widespread attention in the local community, with parents expressing concern over how someone could infiltrate the school using fake documents. Officials say that once the investigation concludes, more details will be shared with the public, including any potential charges the suspect may face.

As of October 14, the man remains under investigation, and no official charges have been filed. The outcome of the case will depend on what investigators uncover from the requested documents and any further evidence connecting the suspect to possible fraud or identity-related crimes.
